HSV-I & II IgG & IgM Antibodies

**HSV 1 & 2 IgG and IgM Antibodies**: - **HSV 1 & 2 IgG Antibodies**: These tests measure the presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies specific to Herpes Simplex Virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2). IgG antibodies indicate a past infection or exposure to the virus and generally persist for life. High levels of IgG antibodies suggest that the person has been infected with HSV-1 or HSV-2 at some point, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic. - **HSV 1 & 2 IgM Antibodies**: These tests detect immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies, which are produced early in the course of an infection. The presence of IgM antibodies suggests a recent or acute infection with HSV-1 or HSV-2. However, IgM can sometimes be present in chronic infections or reactivation episodes, so results are often interpreted in conjunction with IgG testing and clinical symptoms. Together, these tests help diagnose HSV infections, differentiate between primary and recurrent infections, and determine the appropriate management and treatment.
