Fever Panel 3

Fever is commonly treated with a combination of symptomatic relief and addressing the underlying cause. Doctors typically prescribe medications like antipyretics, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil), to lower the body temperature and relieve discomfort. The dose depends on age, weight, and the severity of the fever. Hydration is emphasized, as fever can lead to dehydration. In cases where fever is caused by bacterial infections, antibiotics may be prescribed, while antiviral medications are used for viral infections. If the fever is due to an inflammatory condition or autoimmune disorder, corticosteroids or other immunosuppressants might be recommended. In mild cases, rest and over-the-counter medications may be sufficient, but persistent or high fevers (above 103°F/39.4°C) warrant medical evaluation. In infants, elderly, or immunocompromised individuals, fever may require more immediate attention, as it can indicate serious illness. Always consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment
