Cardiolipin Antibody- ACL IgG

Cardiolipin antibodies measure the presence of autoantibodies against cardiolipin, a phospholipid component of cell membranes. These antibodies are often tested to diagnose antiphospholipid syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that increases the risk of blood clots, miscarriages, and other complications. Elevated levels of cardiolipin antibodies can indicate an increased risk of clotting disorders and help in evaluating the presence and severity of antiphospholipid syndrome. The test is used to guide treatment and monitor patients with suspected or confirmed autoimmune conditions.

Cardiolipin antibodies are autoantibodies that target cardiolipin, a phospholipid found in the inner mitochondrial membrane and in cell membranes. These antibodies are commonly associated with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), an autoimmune condition that can lead to an increased risk of abnormal blood clotting, recurrent miscarriages, and other complications. In APS, the immune system mistakenly produces antibodies against cardiolipin, interfering with normal blood clotting processes.

The presence of cardiolipin antibodies in the blood is measured through a specific blood test. Elevated levels can help diagnose APS and assess the risk of thrombotic events. The test results are used in conjunction with clinical symptoms and other diagnostic criteria to guide treatment strategies and manage the risk of complications associated with APS.
